I am a teacher of English.

I have been teaching for 17 years now. 

I am a mother.

As a make my way into the next phase of my career, I have had to make some fairly important decisions. Prior to having children I was a HOD. I resigned from that role to ensure I could raise my children and still be effective in the classroom. Now, as my children venture into their educational journeys next year, I decided that I too would like to continue to learn. This decision led me to my Masters in Education - Teacher Librarianship. And that has therefore led me to discovering the world of youth popular culture.

The Scout is dedicated to those texts, visual, digital, written and lyrical, that I have been immersed in his semester. It is an exploration of my ideas, opinions, confessions and musings on those new lessons that I have been exposed to.
